Purchased by Manchester City Council in 2013 as part of redevelopment plans, Rowlandsway House - locally known as the "Wythenshawe Torture Chamber" - was demolished in 2014. Formerly a major IT base for Shell UK Ltd, the site was shut down and many people made redundant as part of a major offshore outsourcing move the oil multi-national.
